So I know that I haven’t really expressed what I do at work so I thought I would write a post as not even my parents really understand! I have had a few other jobs leading up to this one and this is the one that I have been most happiest with and it is really expanding my career.
I work in a showroom in Los Angeles. I had no idea what a showroom was until I got here but now I think this is what I had been looking for! So there are various kinds of showrooms, mine looks after fashion brands and gets them editorial and celebrity based placement. We loan our independent brands from around the world for commissioned shoot which end up in fashion publications or we loan garments for celebrities to wear to events.
Some showrooms have super well known brands such as PLT, BNKR, Guess, Stewart Weitzman and more!
When a stylist comes in, we assist them in finding garments that match their brief or mood board as well as grow personal relationships with them so we may continue to assist in their upcoming projects. I have seen the garments go from the showroom to those glossy covers that everyone flips through and have seen celebs strutting down the carpet with our pieces.
Every press shot we receive is a win for not only the designer, but the stylist and our agency as well.
I spend my days keeping up with samples, looking for press, assisting stylists in appointments and pitching the brands I look after. The showroom I work in is a boutique showroom which is smaller and has independent brands mostly from London.
I love where I work and who I work with and I have learned so much. I really enjoy learning more about the industry as a whole and I am excited to see where I go from here!

I’ve seen similar pictures all over social media so I wanted to take a crack at it myself! (That’s the phrase, right?) I usually HATE the way my hair looks when it’s pulled back, but the towel gives the illusion of hair so I thought it was super cool! I love the glam feel of it and while there are a few things I would change about these pictures, I am still relatively happy about how they came out!
So let’s get right into the post. It’s about body positivity and if I am being honest, I was not very body positive about this shoot! I feel bloated, and a bit insecure. But, let me tell you, once I got in the water and felt how good it felt, I forgot all about that! That my dears is what life is all about. While I am still going to work my little tush off to be back to where I want to be, it is important to be happy with the body you’re in no matter what part of your fitness journey you are at.
Even on bloated days like this, I am actually SUPER comfortable in my body. I remember in middle school a girl in my guidance class said that even though her older sister was bigger, she was still so comfortable in her body and she envied that. I thought to myself that I would not feel comfortable if I was as big as her sister was, though she was not huge.
Our guidance counselor said that most girls get to an age when they are just comfortable where they are at and while they may sill strive to be better, they still don’t mind wearing a bikini at the beach or cute mini skirts to show off! I thought, no, if I’m not small I wouldn’t feel that way.
I am happy to report that I have gotten to that point in like that my counselor was talking about! What helps keep it all in perspective as well is to remember what a blessing it is to have a working body, or a body at all.
My favorite body-positive Instagram accounts:
I am on the fence about if I would wear this to work, Fully clothed of course! But honestly the more I look at these pictures the more I am convinced that I should definitely do it! I always have a weird feeling wearing blazers for some reason. While I LOVE the way they look on me, I feel like I am playing dress-up since I always remember my momma wearing blazers to work. So to me, I am not at that point in my life quite yet, so I feel like I look extra. While this is probably all in my mind, I thought it would be a good idea to reflect on just when it is a good idea to be extra.
What is something you would feel like your ‘doing the most’ if you were to wear?
There are multiple times I think it is just a good idea to be extra
- Going out to a club for a fun night with friends
- Going on a first date (somewhere nice of course)
- On a birthday or special occasions like a graduation or other celebration
- When you really just feel like wearing something different!
My style ranges SO much! I love being able to try on a new look and not have to stick to one aesthetic. However, sometimes when I wear something that is more chic, or drastic, or dresses up, I do get more stares or more compliments or whatever it may be. While it doesn’t bother me, I do feel a bit weird because I always want my outfits to kind of be on the same level. This just isn’t possible though when your style ranges so much!
Let’s talk about this look. I was gifted this super chic set from Showpo! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a cool company, especially one that I have been shopping from for years!
I love the classic plaid because it looks great not only on my skin tone, but pretty much everyone’s as well! It even has shoulder pads which seriously made me think of my mom’s old blazers! The piece is thin but sturdy so I know I will be able to keep these pieces for a long time. The thing about a killer set like this is that you can wear it so many different ways! Together, separate, with jeans or with a tank, the possibilities are endless!

I thought I would do a quick post on a few things to know about me. I was going to make them about me as a blogger but the five things ended up being about what I recently learned about myself. Living here in LA, the people are different than Texas in a few ways. They tend to be more chill and not as loud or welcoming. There are just subtle differences of course and I’ve joked that the farther from LA you get the nicer people get! LA is a place where everyone is fighting to make it big, so it’s understandable.
- I do not consider myself creative : I get my inspiration from others and even then I still struggle putting outfits together and I dissect the details until I feel like it’s right!
- I can talk a lot and very loudly : I have a big personality and I have a hard time just turning it off. If I am being quiet for a long time there is usually something wrong!
- I try to make most things a joke or something to laugh about : Even in serious situations, this is like a coping mechanism I guess, but I do this in everyday situations as well
- I have a hard time communicating exactly what is in my head : I understand concepts but I cannot always convey that accurately
- I have sometimes need to think before I speak because I tend to just have word vomit : It’s like that mean girls scene where Katy just keeps talking and talking, that’s me
Life is one big learning experience. Just when you think you’ve got something down you are thrown into a totally new situation. If you’re lucky its a situation you are not comfortable with. That when you are forced to grow. Remember the grass is always greener on the other side. But add some fertilizer to that b*tch and make a garden in your own yard.
What are five things that you learned about yourself recently?

I’ve been wanting to shoot at a magazine stand for a while now! It’s super hard to find one that will let you take pictures at just to be safe I had to sneak these! So while they aren’t the exact poses and angles I wanted I still like how they came out!
I went to take pictures and ended up seeing a few of the pieces from work on those glossy inked up pages. Even though I have obviously seen the pictures before, it was cool seeing the pictures up for the rest of the world to see just sitting there waiting to be read along the same street as cafes and shops.
I am so happy that I moved to LA and do not want to be on reality TV or be an actress. Props to all the people who come here to pursue their dream of being famous (or having their 15 minutes of fame), but that is just not me and I am so happy about that. It’s hard to make it in a city so saturated with “talent”. I am so glad I am here for the experience and that I have actually achieved my goal of working in a fashion showroom. I am happy with not being in the circles of people who are on tv or aspiring to be. The girls I know here are so down to earth and so sweet and they are who I want to be around. While a few of them are aspiring actresses, the girls I do hang out with like that are still good people and not the kind of soul-sucking, will do anything for a gig kind of people.
Back to the work post, I am loving my job. The people I work with are so helpful and really push me to be a better worker. I have learned a lot about myself and my strengths and weaknesses. I have learned a lot about accepting responsibility when you make a mistake and how to keep pushing through. While I really do hope to grow here I know I am lucky to have had this opportunity regardless. This is exactly what I wanted to do when I thought of doing PR. I have pretty much attained my end goal. That also leaves me wondering then, what will be next for me? Will I stay here and continue to grow or will I one day have a new goal of being something else? Whatever it may be, I am happy where I am now.

I wanted to dedicate this post to those special one pieces you have hanging in your closet. You know, the ones that get you fully undressed when you have to use the bathroom (unless they have the buttons on the bottom in which case you feel like a 5-month-old). Yes, the bodysuit. There are also good parts to this clothing piece! The ease of slipping one on and adding a simple pair of jeans and sneaks like how I styled them. When your outfit looks put together you’re halfway there, amiright?!
I purchased this bright one-piece from Zara, and I loved how soft it was I actually bought two! The bright colors are perfect for Summer and they were only $20!
Bodysuits come in all shapes and sizes. From off the shoulders to turtle neck tanks, they also flatter all shapes and sizes! Since they give the illusion of being tucked into your bottom clothing piece, that can help cinch in your waist and really show off your figure. Getting the right size is, of course, crucial because you do not want them too tight (or it will be up your you-know-what) and if it is too big you can be left with too much extra fabric. I wanted to share a few others that are also relatively inexpensive so that you could go purchase them as well.
I actually wore this one piece as a swimsuit since the color is so bright and the material is so similar! There are no bottom buttons or anything that signal that the one piece wasn’t for the beach so I went for it!

It’s life update time! I completed my first week of work at a job I have been wanting for a while! I, of course, am super into fashion and entertainment so naturally, when I heard about PR showrooms I was intrigued. I had not experienced it yet and I think everyone was a little worried when I stopped working at my old PR job in social media and started an internship at a showroom. It was unpaid and I worked at a store at the mall to get by but I knew I needed experience since I had no idea how a showroom functioned at first. Luckily I learned the ropes and was ready to apply for new jobs. I landed an interview at POP PR and after researching the brands they represented I loved it! I was truly blessed to be hired as a fashion assistant and I am excited to see where this journey takes me.
So what is a PR Showroom? I would describe it as a PR management of multiple clothing brands to lend out for celebrity/influencer shoots. It can include gifting, but mostly creates press for the clothes that are shot for magazines, in music videos, and at press events.
As a fashion assistant, so far I have gotten to know the brands, have written a pitch or two, created media lists and assisted in appointments with stylists that come in looking for the perfect outfit for their clients. While I probably cannot name the celebrities we have seen in some of the clothes, let me say there are some A-list names for sure!
This is exactly what I envisioned for myself when I wanted to land my “dream job” a year ago. I never knew this was apart of Public Relations and I am so glad I found it! The people I work with seem very determined and work-driven, but very funny and know how to balance work and play! I am excited to get to know them better and learn so much from them. I will do more updates as more milestones unfold with my job. I am so so excited for my second week of work already!

I thought I would try something a little different for this post. Working as a fashion assistant at a Public Relations agency is definitely me achieving a huge dream. I am lucky enough to be able to wear a variety of clothes and not have to wear a pantsuit and something that matches a briefcase to work. So I thought I would show off a few of my favorite looks. I only remembered last week to shoot three outfits, but if the posts get genuine likes and comments, I will do more!
For this first outfit, I went with a classic all-black look. Slimming and something you cannot go wrong with. The only “pop” of color is the grey coat because it has been a bit chilly in LA this past week. Normally I would hate wearing heels like this to work but I am sitting for the most part! Also, my boss wore a similar faux leather pant so I knew it would be okay to wear mine too.

I actually got the inspiration for this outfit on Pinterest! I love the idea of a slightly baggy jean and tucked in tee combo. I would never wear sneakers to another job, but we were moving pieces that day so I knew I needed something movable!
Tee : Abercrombie // Jeans : Levi’s // Sneakers : Forever 21
This outfit was edgier for me. I think my style is slowly getting to be a bit edgier and I love how it came out! So comfy and if you can tell I was really feeling the all black recently!

Can I just start off this post by saying I am not the best at makeup! I definitely have more learning to do and I have two go-to looks: day and night. So because of that, I thought I would share a few things I’ve learned, heard of, and what I have read from YOU through Instagram questions.
Also, just another reminder of how amazing and talented my childhood friends are! My friend Raeann brought in her whole set up to shoot these amazing pictures for me and my best friend Sara did my makeup! It’s a yellow glossy lid that I still cannot get over! If you are in need of a photographer or makeup artist in the SA area, I’ll give you their info!
Makeup Tips :
- Match your foundation to your overall body tone! Not the color of your face
- Don’t use foundation powder to set makeup, that’s what setting powder is for and yes there is a difference
- Contour based on your face shape, not just where most people like to contour
- Use a green color corrector to cancel out breakouts
- Lip gloss only lasts about a year before expiring!
- Use a wet brow brush to clean up lip liner
(These are things I have heard from you all through Instagram stories so I may not try them all… okay for sure one of them and you’ll know which one!)
- Shave with Olive Oil : it apparently leaves your skin silky smooth when the oil dries
- Rub a lemon on your underarms, knees, and elbows to reduce darkness
- If you do not have makeup remover, use cream (unscented is better for no irritation)
- Wrapping plastic wrap around your waist at night will help you lose water weight in your tummy
- Use a dry toothbrush to exfoliate your lips
- Rubbing baby pee on your face reduces pimples.. this is the one to not try

Let me start off by saying it’s easy to pose when you have an amazing photographer and makeup artist! I got together with a few friends from elementary and middle school and put together this amazing look! If you’re in the San Antonio area I will so give you details for the best photographer and makeup artist! I’m seriously glowing because of all of the makeup and highlight! Also, this was the first shoot I have ever done featuring my little fur baby! I was so excited and did not expect her to be apart of the shoot but she was scared and not comfortable because of all of the lights and unfamiliar faces that she just stuck by my side.
I’ve seen lots of videos on Instagram featuring behind the scenes shots and how they got the end result and I thought it would be a great blog topic. Honestly, the best poses are candids to me. I like to set up a scene, picture what I am about to shoot and just go for it! Practice truly does make perfect!
I’ve met up with a few other bloggers and have seen what they do for posing so I created my own style by seeing them! I, of course, have the go-to poses that I am comfortable with and know what I look like when I do them. I recommend practicing in the mirror first as well! Practice your go-to poses to find your good angles and make it a muscle memory! THEN practice with your outfit on too because if you have a fun skirt you want to twirl in or a purse you want to hold a certain way, that is what can really make a photo! Content creation is key! Being different and confident is what will set you apart from a touristy photo in front of a cute wall.
Lastly, and most importantly, just MOVE! What I like to do is put the camera on shutter mode and walk, twirl, jump, play with my hair and keep moving! Do not move to fast so the camera has time to catch all the movements, but this is the biggest thing I can tell you! A killer photo truly is made by the tiniest details from natural movements.
