Your Own Timeline

I’ve been seeing a lot of New Year posts and posts about the previous decade. It got me thinking about what I have done in the past year/decade. I am working on comparing myself to others and that is basically what this post is about. Everyone has their own timeline. While I am busy comparing myself to those that have done more, there are people wishing that they were in my spot. That is so important to remember.

I remember thinking that you’re supposed to go to school, graduate college, get married, buy a house and then have kids. While I mean that could still happen for me in that order, I know a lot of people that are already married, already have kids and do not own a house. So who is to say what is right and what is wrong? Who is to say you’re not supposed to end up with someone or that’s not how it’s supposed to happen? There is no instruction manual and while that works for most people that does not mean that is how it has to go.

Your timeline is about whatever you want it to be. And even then sometimes you cannot control that. You meet who you should when you should. You move when you want to. You adopt a dog when your lonely, or a baby when you’re ready. At the end of the day, it’s about a mix of fate and faith.
