Makeup Tips from the Pros

So if you read my last blog post about the Who What Wear event, you know that I was able to attend a few master classes with celebrity makeup artists Pati Dubroff whose clients include Margot Robbie, Priyanka Chopra and Elizabeth Olsen and another class with makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan whose clients include Millie Bobby Brown, Kelsea Ballerini, and Sabrina Carpenter.

I learned a ton of tips and tricks and of course I just had to share! Here is a video featuring some of the tips, but if you would rather read along here is what I learned:

Kelsey Deenihan’s holiday looks:

Prep Skin, then apply foundation on face EXCEPT for the under-eye area. Add an under eye mask while doing your eye shadow and when you’re done, then apply concealer to the under-eye area.

Pat in concealer with your fingers

Smudging brown liner between lashes gives a fuller effect

For your lashes, wiggle at the root then swipe for length

Pat your bronzer into your cheeks for the illusion of a “face lift”

Product recommendations:

Chanel Water Fresh Tint was a huge hit for both classes as the product is light and has bursting particles which diffuse the color of the product when they are broken up

Lus Lash Glue has an amazing hold

Kiehl’s Blurring Primer

Pati Dubroff’s Celeb-Inspired Beauty Looks:

Skin prep is a NECESSITY. The more you pamper and wake up the skin, the less makeup you will need

Prep with icing and massaging

Add moisturizer to the perimeter and not the center, add to where you would want highlight so for example your upper cheekbones but not your t-zone

You want to use a lighter colored foundation/concealer in the center of the face to add brightness and you want it to be matte. Matte primers work well for this.

Mix your foundations so you can get perfect color and it works well year-round.

You want either a strong lip/brow combo OR a strong eyeshadow never all three because you need balance on the face

Product Recommendations:

Chanel’s Soleil de Tan is perfect for a light finish and the perfect bronzer

A fluffy brush with space in between so that the product is not so dense on your skin but is light and airy

Something both makeup artists mentioned:

Your Fingers are your best tool

You want natural, light, bright and airy makeup

Minimal Layering
