I had a request to do a post about some of my favorite places and things to do in Los Angeles. Here are just a few of my favorite places that I actually go to and you can find me at during the weekends. From food to workouts, this is just a small round-up of places you may not see on a regular travel guide to LA. If you are visiting LA for the second or third time, these are the kinds of places I would say to go to after you’ve done all of the regular touristy things!
I think I will also create a guide to a few of my favorite places to eat as well soon so watch out for that one! Let me know what you think and what you want to see next!
LA second-hand stores are AMAZING! Even if you go to crossroads or goodwill you are sure to find some name brands. For a genuine thrifty store, I like to go to SLOW Clothing on the corner of Melrose Avenue and Gardner Street. They have really cool prints and I always make a great find! The fair fax area of Melrose Avenue is a great place to get something unique and cool.
Lemonade is my go-to for a healthy meal on the go! I always try something different when I go, but I seem to end up with a side of their broccoli and cheese! This is a great place to get lunch between sightseeing, and the lemonade is of course amazing!
One thing that you must do is drive the PCH! You can take it to Malibu and I recommend doing this because the views of the ocean are amazing! I remember the very first time riding down the PCH with the windows down and the music loud. Definitely a memorable experience!
A fun thing to do when you have a few extra days is to go see a movie! The Melrose Rooftop Theatre is a fun place to see some older favorites accompanied by unlimited popcorn and a view of the sunset against the hills. Snuggle up in a super comfy bean bag chair and blanket and it is definitely a fun experience. Also, EP & LP is right down the stairs so you can make a bar stop right after!
One of my favorite beaches is definitely Matador Beach. The rocks are giant which makes for great shots! I would say that since it is a beach the cell service is horrible and the beach is a bit small so get there early for a good spot and good parking! It is a bit of a drive from LA as it is in the Malibu/Calabasas area, but definitely worth it!
I went to High Tide in the Arts District with a few friends and fell in love! The food was great and it was a great place to stop for drinks! I recommend going before the sun goes down because the outside area is completely pink and perfect for sweet photo ops! I definitely recommend getting a rose and an appetizer for a chill night out.
Want a work out that will leave you sore afterward? Check out, Psycho. Your first class is free so even if you are wanting a quick workout during a longer stay, this one is worth it! Everything is put together so well and it is really an effective HIIT class! They also have yoga sessions that are a great way to relax after a long day!
wow the rooftop theatre is a beautiful idea<3 very LA style for sure – I want it in Italy as well (:
