I always get questions when I shoot as to how to pose or what to do when you’re in front of a camera. I think this will be a hard blog post to write as it is something I just do and is easier to show. I do have a few tips to share, of course, but I also just want to say I have my go-to moves! Picking up my leg or playing with my hair is always just natural for me. I also just search pinterest and Instagram and copy what I see as well. I think when you find your angles and what you like the most, that is what you should stick with and do different variations of!
My Photo Tips
Moving naturally like walking or adding a slight jump, or a genuine laugh is what makes pictures look an feel authentic!
You have to just go for it sometimes. Yes people may look or you have to go out of your way to get a good shot, but it is worth it and plus they will forget and so will you!
Posing in the mirror is a big one as well. Before shooting I always pose in the mirror and see what I want to play up outfit wise.
The best pictures are the creative ones! Add props, colors, and filters to make your image stand out!
Set up a scene, a picture is worth a thousand words so let your pictures tell a story
Let’s talk outfit details! This skirt actually can double as a dress on me since it is pretty long! I actually wore it as a dress to work with my sneakers and I loved the look! I’ll have to shoot it as well! This top is from Pretty Little Thing and shows the perfect amount of skin since the skirt is so long on me. I wanted to wear different heels but I went with these because of the height. I also found it the day before I shot this look at Wasteland on Melrose and I loved the loops at the top. Simple details like that really stand out to me.
Of course I had to add my Lack of Color Hat! I definitely need another one as well because I wear this one so often but the color is perfect for the blog. I shot this look in Venice on Abbot Kinney and I think it really matched the vibe of the street since it is a great place to shop and hang out.
These photos were taken by a photographer named Danny (@ddmportraits on Instagram) and I loved how they came out! If you are in the Los Angeles area and looking for someone new to shoot with, definitely check out his page!

Loving these tips! Definitely what has worked for me is just practice – the more I’ve done it the easier it’s become (and the less I’ve cared about bystanders!)
