Fourth of July Ready with Wooden Ships

If you have been keeping up with my Instagram, you have probably seen my posts with this sweater from Wooden Ships! This pink star sweater is apart of their Fourth of July collection and I was excited to do a collaboration with this brand because of how soft and oversized their sweaters are (perfect for the beach) and because they are not fast fashion.

I have been to a few panels now where the speakers talk about fast fashion. While I am still learning and having a hard time straying away from this, I think it is a good discussion to be had and a movement in the right direction. Wooden ships believe in “lean production” which is a no waste approach. Ever knit is made to order and has a fast turn around time. Not only is this a breathable, comfy and adorable sweater, but it represents a brand with a purpose.

Besides not just being apart of ‘fast fashion’, Wooden Ships also prides itself on giving back to numerous environmental programs, providing ethical production, and reducing their carbon footprint at their offices in Bali. They also use simple packaging with eco-friendly oxo-degradable plastic bags to minimize plastic use. (Did you know 30% of all garbage is packing waste?!)

So not only are you getting a sweet sweater, but also supporting a great business and a greater good.

So on to the sweater itself. When I decided to do the collab I decided that it would be best to shoot it at the beach since this is probably where I am going to spend my fourth of July. I opted out of the ‘red, white and blue’ theme this year as I think it’s overdone to death (especially by me) and went with a more realistic look. Plus this pink really complimented my feed so it was a win-win!

The best way to describe the knit is oversized and slouchy as a perfect loungewear top or cover up. Also, it is very thin and breathable but perfect for a cool beach day! Like I said, truly the best beach sweater!

And did I mention all sweaters ship free? What is your favorite part when you buy an online item?
