I think as we grow, so does our taste in clothes, along with other aspects of course! I was talking to another blogger recently and I realized that what I post on the blog and Instagram isn’t always pieces that I would wear on a day to day basis. Along with mixing in my favorite statement pieces, I also am going to try to incorporate posts that embody what my regular style is as well. I usually wear my same 501 Levi’s jeans with a (most likely white) v-neck, some simple gold pieces and my hair down. So except for the heels, this outfit is not too much out of my usual look, except for the heels.
I really do think influencers have had a big impact on what I wear! I usually try to limit the trendy pieces because I try to think… will I wear that other than for a shoot? And some pieces I post are just too fun for me to pass up like my star shorts!
When I first started off blogging I have to admit I was aiming to dress like the lifestyle bloggers who constantly shop at Nordstrom and tend to be southern. I quickly realized that while they had cute pieces, they were all so similar! Something amazed me by the bloggers that had an edgier, cooler style with posts that had cool angles and cool pieces. Now I am somewhere in between trying to post outfits like them for cool inspiration, and everyday minimal pieces. While the contrast of the two sucks for my Instagram feed, I feel it is better to be relatable to my audience, but at the same time keep them interested.
No matter what the look may be, my goal is to be different, but also genuine with my style. I have slowly learned more about what I like and do not like and that takes time. I find pieces even now from forever ago that I truly still love, and ones that are cringe-worthy! I would not be caught dead in a lace forever 21 mini dress anymore. But I do love the forever 21 sneakers that I can’t live without!
