Double Denim

One of the best trends right now in my opinion is double denim! I would have never even imaged wearing two similarly colored denim pieces over each other before, but now I think it is killer! So easy to throw on and I think the more similar the colors the better! I’m not always down for a trend, but this one I will be wearing long after the trend is over.

I actually had two influences for this look. The first was actually my boss. I had been seeing the trend for a while when it first started and I didn’t think much of it. But when I asked around work what everyone’s favorite trend was at the time, my boss mentioned double denim. I looked more into it because I was creating an Instagram story based on my feedback and that is one of the moments I fell in love with it!

The second time I really knew I wanted to not just wear double denim, but to shoot it was when I saw one of the girls behind Jagger and Stone wear an outfit SUPER similar to this one and she was killing it! I seriously love that duo’s style and to know I had some identical pieces in my closet was so exciting for me! Jagger and stone is one of these super KILLER brands that I just found that you have to check out!

Tell me her outfit isn’t pretty much identical to mine?!

Here are a few of my tips for wearing Denim of Denim:

  1. I opted for lighter denim pieces so that I wouldn’t be overly hot, and the light and looser fitting denim pieces made me comfortable all day and night! I actually wore this outfit to work and to hang out with the girls after, so it was an all-day look I didn’t have to keep tugging at or pulling down
  2. I tried to go for two denim pieces similar in color. That was just a personal preference as I think it looks much cooler on! While black jeans and a light blue jacket is a closet staple and easy go-to look, I think there is a much more unique statement to this look
  3. Layers are your friend. I played with the dimensions in this outfit by first trying one side of the top to be untucked then left both shirt tails out. I love how the skirt is seen but also barely there!
  4. I think for this look to work, extra well, the denim should be touching. Notice my skirt is directly under my shirt and I do not have a tank or another top that is underneath to give the illusion of separation. I think a belt could work well though!

Let’s talk outfit details: So besides the denim pieces I can’t get enough of, another one of my outfit musts is these stackable rose gold rings from Aurate. I seriously fell in love with wearing rings in high school because I truly loved the way my hands looked when I would write or type. I have the SMALLEST hands and so dainty rings like this look amazing.

Because I have such small hands, it can be hard for me to find rings that fit. Aurate can actually have them custom made because I wear a size three! Usually, I have to opt for midi rings but I was able to order and it came pretty quick! I get a lot of different collaboration pitches for jewelry brands and I always check them out first and Aurate is definitely on-brand for my blog and me. Simple, gold/rose gold jewelry is a must right now and for a good reason!
